After searching an island’s worth of beaches, continually attracted to the diversity and uniqueness that Kona’s beaches offer, I felt that this isolated cove was the right place to set up. With my feet planted firmly in the ever-moving shoreline on this balmy Hawai’ian afternoon, I placed my tripod directly in the surf and waited for the sun to set behind the cliffs. It cast an unexpected golden glow on the inky rocks, a glow which I knew would vanish within moments. This long exposure captured the mood I was feeling. The waves breaking in the background added depth and dimension to the scene.
