Jeg vil aldrig glemme, hvad jeg oplevede inde i denne fantastiske grotte. Det føltes, som om jeg blev overvåget af hundredvis af stenansigter, hvis øjne stirrede uhyggeligt ud fra klippevæggene. Jo længere du bliver derinde, jo flere ansigter og former dukker op. Dette sted er gennemsyret af navajo-indianernes legender, og jeg kunne virkelig mærke deres åndelige tilstedeværelse.
The descent into Sphinx Cavern was pure adrenaline, every turn revealing another row of carved faces that seemed to track my flashlight. That eerie sense of being watched never let up, even when I stopped and held my breath near the rock walls. It’s the kind of place that sticks with you long after
I booked the sunset tour and honestly lost track of time standing among those stone faces in the cavern — the way the light caught their carved features felt almost alive. The sheer scale of the space made me feel tiny, but in the best way possible.
The flashlight barely reaches the far walls, which only makes the carved faces feel more alive as they emerge from the shadows. I kept stopping to listen, and the silence in there was so complete it almost hummed. That hike down was worth every step.
