La Gran Isla, Hawái
Fotografiar el cielo nocturno es extremadamente difícil pero también muy gratificante. En la cima del Mauna Kea, a 14,000 pies en la Gran Isla, hay un lugar especial que siempre recordaré. Una experiencia así: rodeado de un cielo nocturno de 360°. Había salido de Hilo, donde hacía 80°F, y ahora la temperatura era bajo cero. Literalmente. Tenía que conseguir esta foto y aprovechar uno de los cielos más despejados de la tierra. Una exposición de 30 segundos permitió que las nebulosas de la Vía Láctea se revelaran a través del lente. Me quedé asombrado porque solo la cámara podía ver esto, ¡el ojo humano no puede! Enmarcé este árbol en la oscuridad total de la noche. Fue frustrante, y hubo mucho ensayo y error. Pero al final conseguí la foto. La Madre Naturaleza es increíble.
