Jotkut kuvistani tarjoavat niin ylivoimaisia aistikokemuksia, että minun on pakko tehdä huolellisia muistiinpanoja voidakseni jakaa ikuisesti ne hetket, jotka johtivat kuvan ottamiseen. Kuvatessani ”Tree of Life” -teosta menin matalalle maahan vangitakseni rikkaan kontrastin puun latvuston lehtien ja alla olevan rehevän vihreän ruohon välillä. Ruoho oli vielä kosteaa ja siitä lähti puhdas maan tuoksu, ja sillä hetkellä löysin juuri sen, mitä etsin, kun tajusin, ettei näitä minuutteja voisi koskaan toistaa. Puu oli värinsä huipulla; viikkoa aikaisemmin lehdet olisivat olleet liian vihreitä, viikkoa myöhemmin en olisi ehkä löytänyt mitään. Kun aamun pehmeä valo hajaantui edelleen pilvisen taivaan ansiosta, avasin sulkimen pitkälle valotukselle ja hymyilin onneani. Jopa viikkojen jälkeen, kun olin kuvannut ylös ja alas rannikkoa, kotiin tulo ja tämän kuvan suurennettuna näkeminen toi minut suoraan takaisin puun rauhaan ja henkisyyteen, kun se kurkotti koskettamaan taivasta.
