30 September 2009–salju pertama musim ini turun di puncak-puncak Gunung Baker. Baru sehari sebelumnya, matahari bersinar dan tidak ada satu pun keping salju di gunung. Saya memarkir kemping untuk bermalam dan menyetel alarm untuk matahari terbit. Ketika saya tiba, saya benar-benar takjub! Untuk sesaat saya pikir saya berada di tempat yang berbeda. Jantung saya berdebar kencang saat saya mengambil peralatan dan mendaki di bawah cahaya senja menuju tepi danau yang mempesona ini. Sesaat sebelum mengambil foto ini, matahari menembus awan dan dengan lembut menyinari tepi punggung bukit. Itulah sentuhan ajaib yang membuat foto ini! Sungguh luar biasa bagaimana Ibu Pertiwi bisa berubah dalam semalam, menciptakan pemandangan hening ini yang hanya dipecahkan oleh bunyi rana kamera saya.
