Finding the perfect tree is such an amazing task. It sounds easy, but it’s not! All the elements need to be right - soft lighting, no wind, the perfect shape - and the hardest of all - the background and sky. My search went on for days. I traversed the state - walking, hiking, driving, flying, all to track down what I wanted. The image was in my head, I just had to find it. Torrential rains for two weeks straight hindered the process even more. It never stopped raining. The locals told me that this weather pattern set the blooming cycle back two weeks - just what I didn’t need to hear!

At the end of the second week, my patience was extremely minimal. I knew it had to turn up. One of the locals told me about a location that he thought might work. Normally these type of leads go nowhere, but by this point I had no other choice but to follow it up.

As I hiked around, I caught a glimpse of bright pink in the distance. The weeping cherry tree presented itself in all its glory. All I had to do was to patiently wait a few hours for the rain to stop. Just before noon, I had my break to shoot this fairy tale scene. The scene was so silent and the rain helped pop the colors even more. It was a magical moment when I pressed the shutter. Looking back at the shot, I was totally rewarded with my chase.

It took me forever to find a tree scene that doesn’t feel staged, but the calm, windless stillness here finally got it right. The branch structure looks so natural, and that soft glow makes it feel like early morning rather than a studio shot. It’s already my favorite piece on the wall.

The soft lighting in this piece is exactly what I needed to finally capture that serene, still moment I've been hunting for. The tree's shape is so well-balanced that it feels like nature paused just for me. This one's going on my wall immediately.

I’ve been chasing that calm, windless evening glow for weeks and this piece nails the soft lighting perfectly. The shape feels balanced from every angle, like it finally stopped waiting for the right moment. It’s the kind of quiet detail that turns a plain corner into a whole mood.
