Quando sono arrivato sulla spiaggia di Kihei, non avevo idea di quale spettacolo magnifico stesse per svolgersi davanti a me. Avevo esplorato questa zona il giorno prima, osservando come il moto delle onde si intersecasse seguendo la dolce curva della spiaggia. Erano queste formazioni d'onda che volevo rendere protagoniste dello scatto, ma mentre osservavo l'orizzonte tingersi di un bagliore infuocato, sapevo che mi aspettava anche un tramonto magnifico. Ho aspettato che il sole fosse abbastanza basso da riflettersi fino alla riva, poi ho scattato dall'oceano illuminato, così le palme rimanevano drammaticamente in silhouette contro il cielo serale.
