I set the alarm at 5:00 am in order to get out there early to capture the beauty of Martha’s Vineyard. I knew the morning would set the perfect mood for this shot, as it had rained heavily the entire night before. I hiked down to the water’s edge just as the sun was rising–causing the fog to gently glow. The thick blanket of fog created a real sense of mystery, almost like a ghost ship from the past. With the fog horns echoing in the background, I set up my tripod, framed the shot, and pressed the shutter. The first time I saw this print in its full size, I was astounded with how well a photograph can capture the mood of such a magical place like Martha’s Vineyard.
