Fotografare il cielo notturno è estremamente impegnativo ma anche molto gratificante. Sulla cima del Mauna Kea, a 14.000 piedi, sulla Grande Isola, c'è un posto speciale che ricorderò per sempre. Un'esperienza del genere – circondato da un cielo notturno a 360°. Ero partito da Hilo, dove c'erano 80°F, e ora la temperatura era gelida. Letteralmente. Dovevo assolutamente scattare questa foto e sfruttare uno dei cieli più limpidi della Terra. Un'esposizione di 30 secondi ha permesso alle nebulose della Via Lattea di rivelarsi attraverso l'obiettivo. Sono rimasto sbalordito perché solo la fotocamera poteva vedere questo, l'occhio umano non può! Ho inquadrato questo albero nel buio pesto della notte. È stato frustrante, e pieno di tentativi ed errori. Ma alla fine ho ottenuto lo scatto. Madre Natura è incredibile.
