カリゾ平原はカリフォルニアの辺鄙で住みにくい地域にあり、私はこの場所を見つけて一晩キャンプするまで、何日も未舗装の脇道や小道の迷路を旅しました。野の花畑を撮るのが大好きです。巨大な自然の花束が咲き乱れる色と香りに囲まれることには、何かとても心が落ち着くものがあります。私は非常に寒く静かな朝に目覚め、花のてっぺんと同じ高さにカメラを設置しました。レンズが風景に溶け込み、ただ向けられるだけでなく、実際にシーンの一部になるような視点を望んだのです。必要な4秒の露出は永遠のように感じられ、風が止んでくれることを願いながら息を止めていました。
