マウイ島、ハワイ
ワイモク滝は、高さ400フィート以上の溶岩の絶壁から流れ落ちる、マウイ島で最も印象的な滝のひとつです。山肌から流れ出る珍しい角度のため、構図を決めるのは難しかったですが、幾重にも重なる滝の美しさに魅了され、その高さをできる限り収めたいと思いました。シダに覆われた岩壁の間でフレームを引き締め、水が主役になるようにし、前景の岩を使って遠近感を出し、見上げるようにしてこの息をのむような滝をできる限り多く捉えようとしました。
The 400-foot drop looks even more dramatic in person, with the water practically exploding off the lava rock wall. That unusual cascading angle really does make for a one-of-a-kind composition.
I’ve hiked all over the island, and this 400-foot drop off the lava wall is something else—the way it fans out mid-air is almost surreal. The photo captures that scale perfectly, making it easy to relive the whole trek.
