海に面した岩の上に建つこの素朴な茅葺き小屋のシンプルさが、このショットに特別な焦点を与えています。私はその下でくつろぎ、海の音を聞きながら、この魔法のような夕日を眺めていました。このショットが荘厳なものになると分かっていましたが、完璧な光を求めて数日待ちました。晴れた青空では、私が追い求めていた雰囲気は得られませんでした。結局、5日後、天候の変化が訪れました。夕日が沈む瞬間に一連のショットを撮りましたが、太陽が沈むにつれて光が良くなりました。長時間露光により、海の色と質感をすべて吸収し、夢のような雰囲気のショットになりました。
I’ve stared at this image for five minutes and it doesn’t get old—that little shack actually makes you feel the wind and hear the waves. It’s now the calming screensaver on my work computer.
The bench under that thatched roof looks so real I half-expected sand in my shoes when I touched the print. The soft grays of the ocean and the shack's rough texture pull you right into the scene. My living room finally has the calm spot I've been chasing.
I printed this at 24x36 and the thatched-roof texture still looks razor sharp. It's one of those rare shots where the shack doesn't just sit in the frame but pulls you in, like you can hear the waves crashing under the rocks.
