Brilho do Desfiladeiro

The contrast between those fiery red hoodoos and the deep winter snow is absolutely unreal, exactly what I was hoping to capture. Photographed the canyon at dawn when the light hit the snowy caps just right, and the depth in every frame is stunning.

I spent a week studying the snow-dusted hoodoos at sunrise, and the color saturation in the shots I got is unreal—the pink and orange just pop against the white caps. The detail on the rock layers is sharp even in low light, which made the winter conditions worth every numb finger.

The canyon’s winter palette is exactly what I needed to visualize the scene — the snow-capped peaks against the frosty rock layers come through with real depth. I’ve stared at this for a week straight and still notice new shadows every time.
