Vissa av mina bilder ger så överväldigande sensoriska upplevelser att jag tvingas göra noggranna anteckningar för att för alltid kunna dela de ögonblick som ledde fram till att bilden togs. När jag fotograferade "Tree of Life" sänkte jag mig ner mot marken för att fånga den rika kontrasten mellan trädkronans lövverk och det frodiga gröna gräset nedanför. Gräset var fortfarande fuktigt och gav ifrån sig en ren jordig doft, och i det ögonblicket fann jag precis vad jag letade efter när jag insåg att dessa minuter aldrig skulle kunna återskapas. Trädet var i sin färgprakt, en vecka tidigare hade löven varit för gröna; en vecka senare hade jag kanske inte funnit något alls. När det mjuka morgonljuset ytterligare spreds av den molniga himlen, öppnade jag slutaren för en lång exponering och log åt min tur. Även efter veckor av fotografering längs kusten, när jag kom hem och såg denna bild förstorad, fördes jag direkt tillbaka till friden och andligheten hos trädet som sträckte sig upp mot himlen.
