After two weeks of sunny skies–a sure way to ruin a good forest shot–I was blessed with a much–anticipated overcast day. The soft light of the sun, diffused by the clouds and mist, makes the greens glow and the reds jump out at you. With the morning’s fog starting to burn off, I made the most of the conditions and captured the mood of the moment. The intricate patterns of the fern leaves on the forest floor gave this photo a nice depth against the towering Redwoods poised in the background. And of course, that splash of red was just magnificent.
