私の作品の中には、圧倒的な感覚体験をもたらすものがあり、そのイメージを捉えるに至った瞬間を永遠に共有できるよう、注意深くメモを取らざるを得ません。「生命の樹」を撮影したとき、私は地面に低く身をかがめ、木の葉の天蓋と下の豊かな緑の芝生との鮮やかなコントラストを捉えました。芝生はまだ湿っていて、清らかな土の香りを放っていました。その瞬間、私はまさに探していたものを見つけ、この数分間は決して再現できないと悟りました。木は色づきのピークにあり、1週間早ければ葉は緑すぎたでしょう。1週間遅ければ、何も見つからなかったかもしれません。曇り空によってさらに拡散された早朝の柔らかな光の中で、私はシャッターを開いて長時間露光し、自分の幸運に微笑みました。海岸沿いを何週間も撮影して帰宅し、このショットを拡大して見ると、空に届こうと伸びる木の平和と精神性がすぐに蘇ってきました。
