가을이 테네시에서 겨울로 접어들면서 기온은 영하로 크게 떨어졌습니다. 그레이트 스모키 마운틴의 계곡과 봉우리는 끊임없이 안개로 뒤덮였고, 촬영 조건은 극히 어려웠습니다—하지만 제가 꼭 담고 싶었던 고전적인 층층의 산맥이 있었습니다. 완전히 안개로 뒤덮인 일출 촬영을 다섯 번이나 실패한 후, 거의 포기할 뻔했습니다. 여섯 번째 아침, 얼어붙은 어둠 속에서 일출을 기다리고 있을 때, 새벽의 첫 빛이 제 운이 바뀌었음을 알려주었습니다! 새벽이 수평선 위에 장밋빛 빛을 비추었고, 먼 산맥의 봉우리들이 떠오르며 수평선 위에 드러났습니다. 전경의 실루엣으로 드러난 가문비나무들은 이 사진에 깊이를 더하며, 자연의 강인함과 섬세함을 완벽하게 전달합니다.
The cold really came through in this one—those freezing temperatures and the fog clinging to the peaks made me feel like I was standing right there in the Smokies. I keep going back to the part where the valleys stay hidden, it's hauntingly beautiful.
The fog rolling over those peaks looked exactly like the photos — thick and moody, turning the whole valley into a gray dreamscape. I’ve been chasing that view for years, and this captured it better than I hoped.
