저는 하와이의 진정한 본질을 포착하고 싶었고, 만, 절벽, 바다, 해변을 찾아 며칠을 보냈습니다. 파도가 절벽에 부딪히는 퀸스 배스로 다시 끌려갔습니다. 장면을 돋보이게 할 마법 같은 빛이 필요했습니다. 답답한 하늘이 5일 동안 이어진 후, 무언가 일어날 것 같은 느낌이 들었습니다. 절벽 가장자리에 삼각대를 설치하고, 태양과 구름이 하늘에 닿으려 손을 뻗는 모습을 경외심을 담아 바라보았습니다. 그것은 짧은 빛의 쇼였고, 저는 일련의 사진을 찍었습니다. 움직이는 파도에 회화적인 느낌을 주기 위해 장시간 노출을 사용했습니다. 전경의 폭포가 이 장엄한 배경으로 이어지는 이 프레임을 선택했습니다. 셔터를 눌렀을 때 제가 느꼈던 것처럼 이 사진에서 마법을 느끼시길 바랍니다.
The way the waves crash against those cliffs is captured so vividly it feels like you can hear the water. I’ve hung this above my desk and keep getting lost in the movement of the ocean. It’s the closest thing to being back on Kauai without the flight.
I framed this one above my desk, and every time I glance over, I’m pulled right back to that raw coastline at Queen’s Bath. The way the deep blues and the spray against those dark cliffs feels almost tactile—it’s honestly the closest I’ve got to a Hawaii morning without a flight.
