키헤이 해변에 도착했을 때, 내 눈앞에서 펼쳐질 장관을 전혀 예상하지 못했다. 나는 전날 이 지역을 정찰하며 파도가 해변의 완만한 곡선을 따라 서로 교차하는 패턴을 관찰했다. 바로 이 파도 형성을 사진의 주제로 삼고 싶었지만, 지평선이 불타오르는 빛으로 물들기 시작하는 것을 보며 장엄한 일몰도 함께 담을 수 있음을 알았다. 나는 태양이 해안선까지 반사를 드리울 만큼 낮아질 때까지 기다렸다가, 조명을 받은 바다에서 노출을 측정하여 야자수들이 저녁 하늘을 배경으로 극적으로 실루엣을 드러내도록 했다.
I was initially skeptical about adding a beach scene to my wall, but the way the waves are rendered at Kihei actually makes the room feel calmer. It’s a big piece, but the color depth in the water and sand pulls you right in, like you’re standing there watching the tide turn.
The beach at Kihei is a scene stealer, with the waves putting on a show right at sunset that I didn't want to end. Captured it all in one frame, and the way the light hits the water in this shot is just stunning.
The way the ocean rolls into that perfect turquoise curve is straight mesmerizing, and you can practically feel the Hawaiian sun on your skin just by looking at it. The wave pattern in the foreground gives it so much depth, I catch something new every time I glance at it.
