이 사진을 찍기 위해 접근하는 것은 정말 악몽 같았습니다. 전혀 예상과 달랐죠. 가파른 절벽과 거센 파도 때문에 사실상 접근이 불가능했습니다. 점점 초조해지기 시작했어요. 하지만 꼭 찍어야 했습니다. 나는 밀물과 썰물을 연구했고, 칠흑 같은 어둠 속에서 90도에 달하는 급경사 절벽을 내려가야 했습니다. 안전을 위해 동네 철물점에서 10달러짜리 밧줄을 샀죠. 없는 것보다는 나았습니다. 이 이미지를 보면 그 모든 노력이 보상받았다는 것을 알 수 있습니다. 이른 아침 빛과 긴 노출이 이 이미지에 회화적인 느낌을 주었습니다. 부두에서 남은 네 개의 콘크리트 기둥이 이 이미지에 시대를 초월한 느낌을 더했습니다.
