캘리포니아 시쿼이아 국립공원
이 숲의 거인들은 정말 경이로울 뿐입니다. 레드우드를 처음 방문했을 때를 결코 잊지 못할 것입니다. 목을 뒤로 젖혀 하늘에 닿을 듯한 이 거대한 나무들을 올려다보며 경외심에 사로잡혔습니다. 이 장면을 위해 겨울을 선택했습니다. 그 아침은 특별했습니다. 겨울 장비를 모두 갖추고 삐걱거리는 신선한 눈 위를 하이킹하며 아침 햇살이 거인들을 뒤에서 비추는 모습을 지켜보았습니다. 이것이 제가 원하던 장면이었습니다. 나무들은 붉게 빛나고, 새로 내린 눈은 숲을 겨울 동화 속 세상으로 바꾸어 놓았습니다. 혼자서 자연과 하나가 되어, 나뭇가지에서 떨어지는 눈소리만이 고요를 깨던 그 순간을 결코 잊지 못할 것입니다.
I’ve been to a lot of national parks, but these 24 trees capture that exact dizzying moment when you crane your neck and the world tilts upward. The detail on the bark and the way the canopy stretches out of frame makes me feel like I’m standing on the trail again, wrapped in that cool, piney quiet.
The sense of scale comes through so well in these photos—I kept trying to tilt my head back just like I did standing under the real giants. It's the closest thing to being back in that grove without the neck cramps.
The included photos of the big trees in Sequoia National Forest give me goosebumps every time I scroll through them, the scale is just unreal. I keep finding myself staring at the details, it's like a mini vacation from my desk.
