Ik arriveerde de avond ervoor bij Wineglass Bay om het getij te bestuderen en een compositie te plannen voor mijn fotoshoot bij zonsopgang. Ik koos deze locatie omdat bij laag water de rotsachtige kustlijn zichtbaar werd en extra werd benadrukt. Toen de dageraad naderde, was ik zo gefascineerd door het zicht van de enorme gouden bol die boven de horizon verscheen, dat ik bijna vergat de foto te nemen! Het tafereel veranderde honderd keer terwijl het sterker wordende zonlicht het oppervlak van de rotsen verlichtte en het komen en gaan van het getij eroverheen spoelde. Terwijl het tafereel zich voor mij ontvouwde, stelde ik me voor dat Moeder Natuur haar armen uitstrekte naar de nieuwe dag en voelde ik me bevoorrecht om getuige te zijn van dit prachtige schouwspel.
