In August 2017, the Société d'Exploitation De La Tour Eiffel granted Peter Lik the rare privilege of photographing Paris’s most iconic landmark. With official permission secured, he set out to reinterpret the Eiffel Tower in a way rarely seen. From a rooftop vantage point above the city, storm clouds parted to reveal a breathtaking sky painted in vivid tones of purple, gold, and crimson.
As dusk fell, the tower blazed with illumination, standing in radiant contrast against the Paris skyline. Below, a rain-soaked boulevard shimmered like glass, while long-exposure car trails flowed through tree-lined streets, glowing in brilliant streams of light. The balance of motion and stillness created a vivid tableau that captured the pulse and romance of the City of Light.
The result is Painted Night — a fine art photograph that unites the elegance of Parisian architecture, the energy of its streets, and the artistry of one of the world’s most beloved landmarks.
