It has always been a challenge to capture the majesty of the Grand Canyon — the sensational mood and unbelievable feeling that showcases both the depth and scale of this epic landscape.

It required a hard-sought, remote location to better illuminate the overwhelming beauty. Driving the dirt road to the overlook was brutal — with a storm rolling through, the dust and dirt quickly became mud! After several hours of intense off-road adventures, the incomparable view finally presented itself.

The glow of the setting sun reflecting down the dramatic 3,000-foot vertical cliff onto the Colorado River below looked like a painting. Only a few precious minutes remained to capture this magic through the lens.

Clouds gathered on the cliffs edge and the camera was set in overdrive mode shooting frame after frame until total darkness draped the scene. Total awe and solitude portrayed the vastness of the Canyon and her majesty. The rally drive paid off — to witness such beauty.
