オーストラリアのタスマニアでラベンダー畑の初期のギャラリー作品を撮影して以来、南フランスのプロヴァンス地方を撮影することをずっと夢見てきました。そこには最も美しいラベンダー畑があります。 魅力と歴史の組み合わせが、この夢を本当に実現させてくれました。期待をはるかに超えるものでした。
プロヴァンスの趣のある小さな村々や裏道を五週間かけて探し回った後、この魔法のような風景がようやく現れました。それは過酷な一週間でした。毎日午前3時に起き、20時間働き続け、ようやく撮影に必要な光と雰囲気を捉えることができました。最終的なイメージは、そこにいたときの感覚をそのまま物語っています。美しさと、あの紛れもないラベンダーの落ち着く香りに圧倒される感覚です。
I’ve been chasing that dreamy lavender-at-sunset light for years, and this print finally captures the soft haze and rolling rows of Valensole exactly how I imagined Provence would feel. The detail in the distant horizon keeps pulling my eye back in every time I walk past it on the wall.
The colors in this print are so true to the lavender fields at Valensole that I can almost smell them. It’s hanging above my couch and every time I glance over, I’m transported to that dreamy southern French light.
