このショットはすべてを物語っていると思います。まさに『アメリカの魂』を捉えています。この重要な、象徴的なイメージになるとわかっていたので、光を観察し、構図の感覚をつかむために何度もこの場所を訪れました。完璧に撮りたかったのです。凍てつく冬の朝、早く到着した私は、夜明けを待つために十分な時間がありました。この壮大な深淵の縁に座りながら、目の前に広がる峡谷の圧倒的な広大さに圧倒されました。アーチを完璧な自然のフレームとして構図を決め、最初の太陽の光が差し込むと、シーンは暖かくかすんだ輝きに包まれました。レンズフレアのリスクを最小限に抑えるため、太陽がアーチの陰に隠れる瞬間を待ち、そして、この信じられないほど力強いキャニオンランズの肖像を撮影しました。
