ヨセミテの荒々しくも美しい自然はいつも私を驚かせてくれますが、冬は私が彼女を撮影するのに一番好きな季節です。ちょうど夕暮れ前に、私は凍った岸辺に機材をセットし、太陽が最後の光を放つのを待ちました。寒さで指がかじかむ中、私は一連のフレームを撮影しました。ちょうど片付けようとしたその時、最後の一筋の太陽の光が遠くの崖を照らし、空が深いバラ色に染まりました。これこそ待つ価値のある一枚になると確信しました！シーンを覆う繊細な氷の衣と、谷間に漂うかすかな霧が、このイメージにほとんど非現実的な品質を与えており、私はその最終結果に大喜びしました。
The way the frozen river leads your eye into that purple dusk sky is pure magic. I’ve framed it in my living room and catch myself staring at the icy texture every single evening.
The icy blue tones in this capture are what sold me—it’s like the water is glowing against the dark rocks right before sunset. Frame looks crisp even when I zoom in on the details. Only wish it came in a slightly larger size for my living room wall.
The frozen banks gave me the perfect foreground for that pre-dusk light, and the composition turned out sharper than I hoped for. It's a beautiful capture of Yosemite's winter mood, though I wish the description had mentioned the icy conditions by the water's edge.
