アリゾナ州のバーミリオン・クリフスの崖を登っているとき、角を曲がると目の前に広がる景色に完全に圧倒されました——まるで私が見つけるのを待っていたかのように。太陽は急速に沈み、岩の上で光が踊る瞬間を捉える時間はほんのわずかしかないと分かっていました。キャンプから何マイルも離れた砂漠で一人、崖が深紅、紫、金色の波となって生き生きと動き出すのを目の当たりにし、深い畏敬の念を感じました。岩のひとつひとつの波紋がエネルギーに満ちて脈打っているようで、大地の輝く精神を完璧に映し出していました。
I framed this and hung it in my hallway—now I catch myself staring at it every single time I walk past. The layering of the red rock cliffs is so deep you can almost feel the Arizona heat coming off the canvas.
The colors in this piece feel like the actual cliffs at sunset, that deep vermilion glow is so close to what I saw on my own trip there. It’s one of those artworks that pulls you in every time you pass it.
The way the cliff edges catch the light feels like a real place I could step into, and the depth of the stone layers keeps pulling my eye back. I've got it hanging in my hallway and catch myself stopping to look at it every time I walk past.
