これらの森の巨人たちは本当に信じられないほどです。初めてレッドウッドを訪れた時のことは決して忘れません。首を後ろに倒して、空に届くかのような巨木を見上げ、ただただ畏敬の念を抱きました。このシーンを選んだのは冬でした。その朝は特別でした。冬用の装備をすべて身につけ、きしむような新雪の中をハイキングしながら、朝日が巨人たちを逆光に照らすのを見ました。これこそが私が望んだ光景でした。木々は赤く輝き、新雪は森を冬のワンダーランドに変えていました。一人でここにいて、自然と一体になり、枝から落ちる雪の音だけが響く完全な静寂の中で過ごしたことは、決して忘れません。
I’ve been to a lot of national parks, but these 24 trees capture that exact dizzying moment when you crane your neck and the world tilts upward. The detail on the bark and the way the canopy stretches out of frame makes me feel like I’m standing on the trail again, wrapped in that cool, piney quiet.
The sense of scale comes through so well in these photos—I kept trying to tilt my head back just like I did standing under the real giants. It's the closest thing to being back in that grove without the neck cramps.
The included photos of the big trees in Sequoia National Forest give me goosebumps every time I scroll through them, the scale is just unreal. I keep finding myself staring at the details, it's like a mini vacation from my desk.
