Vermilion Cliffs
애리조나 주 버밀리언 클리프의 절벽을 오르던 중, 모퉁이를 돌자 마치 저를 기다리고 있었던 듯한 장관이 펼쳐져 완전히 압도당했습니다. 해가 빠르게 지고 있었고, 돌 위에 비치는 빛의 춤을 포착할 시간이 얼마 남지 않았음을 알았습니다. 캠프에서 수 마일 떨어진 사막에 홀로 서서, 절벽이 진홍, 보라, 금빛 물결로 살아나는 순간 깊은 경외감을 느꼈습니다. 바위의 모든 주름이 에너지로 맥동하는 듯했고, 대지의 빛나는 정신을 완벽히 반영하고 있었습니다.
I framed this and hung it in my hallway—now I catch myself staring at it every single time I walk past. The layering of the red rock cliffs is so deep you can almost feel the Arizona heat coming off the canvas.
The colors in this piece feel like the actual cliffs at sunset, that deep vermilion glow is so close to what I saw on my own trip there. It’s one of those artworks that pulls you in every time you pass it.
The way the cliff edges catch the light feels like a real place I could step into, and the depth of the stone layers keeps pulling my eye back. I've got it hanging in my hallway and catch myself stopping to look at it every time I walk past.
