From a helicopter circling 500 feet up in the air, the sheer expanse and magnitude of the Great Barrier Reef becomes evident. I have shot many aerials of the reef, but this time wanted a more abstract feel to my composition. By shooting straight downwards and not including the horizon the image takes on an unusual perspective. The incredible turquoise mosaic of the reef structure dominates the foreground and the overall blue cast adds a startlingly powerful element.
