Hideaway

From experience I have learnt that the best images are often just out of sight, and it pays to go round a few extra corners. Stepping off the well-worn path of the Pipiwai Trail, I discovered this hidden waterfall in the midst of the lush tropical foliage. After watching the interesting patterns created by water swirling around the moss-covered rocks, I decided to use the foreground as my focal point. Using a long exposure I allowed the bubbles time to travel through the frame, creating a beautiful milky effect. With the delicate drop of the falls spilling out of its forest backdrop, and a recent rainfall saturating the vibrant foliage the elements of nature came together to produce a truly magical shot.
