The tapestry of tidal sands at Hill Inlet must be viewed from the air to be fully appreciated. As we ascended to over 1,000 feet, I was awed by the sight of the swirling tides sculpting the virgin white silica sands. In the vast surroundings of the deep blue ocean, I captured this stunning example of Natures pure beauty.
I wasn’t prepared for how the tidal swirls shift color as you climb past 1,000 feet—the pale sand curling into those turquoise ribbons felt almost unreal. The aerial viewpoint really is everything here; I kept staring long after we leveled off.
Getting above 1,000 feet is the only way to grasp the full maze of those swirling tides, and this print captures that aerial chaos perfectly. The way the sand and water blend into those soft, swirling patterns is mesmerizing, almost like a living painting that changes the longer you look at it.
I’ve flown over Hill Inlet a few times before, but this capture from above 1,000 feet really nails the way the sand shifts into those creamy swirls. The colors and texture are so crisp it feels like you’re right in the window seat again.
