グラスハウス山脈をユニークな角度から捉えたいと思いました。地上から数日間探して撮影しましたが、どれもしっくりきませんでした。考えを巡らせた末、ヘリコプターを使うことに決めました。翌朝早く目覚ましをセットし、滑走路でパイロットと合流しました。山々に近づくと、朝の最初の光が山頂を包む渦巻く霧を照らし出しました。私は夢中になり、シーンを一周しながらあらゆる角度から次々とフィルムを撮りました。ヘリコプターで霧の中を出入りしながらの素晴らしい朝は、決して忘れられないものでした—まるで空飛ぶ絨毯に乗っているかのようでした。
